Born in 1956, Hwa Youn Kim, DDS, lived his childhood in postwar Seoul where he was educated. In 1975 he was admitted to the predental class at Seoul National University. In 1981 he graduated with a D.D.S. After graduation he served with the Korean Army as Dental Officer between March 1981 and April 1984. Returning to civilian life, he began his private practice which lasted for the next seventeen years. In 1992 he received a Ph. D. in Oral Physiology from Seoul National University. A strong believer in continuing education, especially for general dentists, he has taken over 5000 hours of advanced training since dental school. As a general dentist, Dr. Kim belongs to numerous professional groups, including the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, the Sacramento District Dental Society. He has participated various kind of dental implantology courses, including Advanced Implantology in UCLA, Steri Oss Implant course.
